About Me

 

Who am I? I am Elkie, a wedding and portrait photographer. Former life included an engineer, a map maker, in the IT industry, and helped my family run a cafe business, which included spending 5 weeks at a Gold Coast academy, woke up at 5 o'clock in the morning to learn how to make coffee! I believed my colourful past journey made me become who I am now - a very unique me with a wide angle of experience Where am I and have been? I called Sydney, Australia as my home now. I lived in The Hills, which is the North West sector of the Sydney Metropolitan area. I love the garden and natural environment around me, included the possums who running up and down the trees at my backyard in the middle of the night! I was borned in Hong Kong, which I am still keeping close with, especially I still have plenty of my relatives and friends there! I was educated in England for a few years as well, now I am missing all the beautiful historical buildings there ... and the yummy scone from my boarding school's kitchen! I have also traveled to Italy, Switzerland, France, Netherlands, Belgium, Japan, China, Taiwan, New Zealand ... looking forward to add more location to my travel map! Why photography? I developed my love of photography while I was away from home and studying overseas ... you know, back then when we had no internet and email. :-) I carried my old point and shoot film camera around with me and took as many photos as I could then post it back home (via snail mail, not email or blog!), so that my family could share my experiences with me. Now, I would say I love photography of its ability to capture and keep the moment, people and things that we love and connected to. It is about the emotional connection, something that is close to our heart ... not only now but also many years to come.
